iOS14.5 is now available and it will affect how Facebook receives and processes data from the Facebook pixel (the code that sits on your website that tracks visitors and their actions which feeds your ads).
The update will impact every business that uses Facebook & Instagram ads. Facebook have offered solutions to work around these changes. So as well as having the Pixel on your website you also need to do the following 4 things:
1) Turn on Conversions API (CAPI) You or your developer can set up CAPI in two ways: Manually set up the API or use a partner integration. To connect CAPI using partner integration, visit Event Manager, select your pixel > select Settings tab > find the Conversions API section > click choose a Partner
If you’re a Shopify user you can simply go to Shopify and set up the new Facebook app (‘Facebook’) and make sure your tracking settings are set to ‘Maximum’.
2) Turn on Auto Advanced Matching In your Business Manager head to Events Manager. In settings, you’ll find a section called ‘Auto Advanced Matching’. Switch this & all sub-sections to on.
3) Connect your DomainIn your Business Manager head to Business Settings > Brand Safety > Domains. Add your website address & follow the instructions to verify your domain. Ask your web developer to help if this gets too techy.
4) Select 8 priority events to set the conversion events that can be used to optimise your campaign.
I’ll be keeping an eye on developments and will be updating you as and when we get to know more about the how the changes are impacting businesses. Sign up to my emails to get updates direct to you inbox.
